A healthy Puget Sound is essential to sustaining vibrant, enduring natural systems and communities, honoring tribal treaty rights, and supporting our need for connection to the natural world. Puget Sound’s nutrient-rich ecosystems and temperate climate have allowed humans to thrive here for generations—honoring the land and its inhabitants, building lives and businesses, and cherishing the region’s natural beauty.
Those who call this place home can speak to the benefits of living near Puget Sound, where fresh seafood and beautiful views are abundant. But with the region’s ever-increasing popularity and prosperity, the way we live and work has compromised the health of Puget Sound. As a result, many species are starving and ecosystem survival is threatened. We all share the responsibility of restoring our home and the creatures we share it with.

Lack of adequate funding is the most often cited barrier to getting work underway that will protect and recover Puget
The 2018-2022 Action Agenda charts the course for recovery. The Action Agenda describes local and regional strategies and highlights specific actions needed to protect and restore Puget Sound. These strategies and actions provide opportunities for federal, state, local, tribal, and private entities to better invest resources and coordinate actions.
It's up to all of us to implement the Action Agenda.
Legislators can support increased funding and policy changes that benefit Puget Sound. The Action Agenda partners can increase collaboration and their reach of messaging. Near Term Action owners can pursue funding to implement their actions. And Philanthropists and businesses that care about orca, salmon, habitat, and water quality can contribute funding to implement actions in the Action Agenda.
